Melissa McNamee, LAC
Melissa McNamee is a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey and a master’s level Art Therapist with over five years of experience in mental health care. She provides both outpatient services at Cherry Hill and in-home support, offering individualized, family, and group therapy across a variety of settings.
Melissa has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient clinics, adolescent residential treatment homes, and safe houses for survivors of domestic violence. She has supported populations including children and families affected by abuse, at-risk teens, individuals with developmental disabilities, and clients managing depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and other mental health concerns.
A trauma-informed clinician, Melissa utilizes a person-centered approach to help clients achieve their individualized goals. She integrates mindfulness and strength-based art interventions to support self-regulation, co-regulation, self-empowerment, and increased self-esteem. She is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of art and play and is dedicated to partnering with clients on their healing journeys.
Melissa earned her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy from Holy Family University and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Pre-Art Therapy concentration from Arcadia University. She has completed extensive professional training, including Safe Crisis Management, Ukeru, Nurtured Heart Approach, NIH Protecting Human Research Participants Online Training, and QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper. Melissa has also presented on trauma-informed art therapy interventions at conferences such as the Drama Therapy 40th Annual Conference.
